Tutorial: Testing Embedded Systems
BeyondTest invites
you to attend a half-day tutorial with Hans
Schaefer.
Hans Schaefer is an independent consultant in software testing
methods, based at Osteroy, an island near Bergen, Norway. He has been in the
testing field for over 15 years, consulting major software suppliers in
Scandinavian countries, especially in the telecommunications industry, and is
known as “Mr. Software Test” throughout Scandinavia. He has been involved in
the development of real time process control software and the development of
parts of a CASE-tool (Systemator). Hans has lead a government funded project
"Software Quality Management" with the aim of developing training
material in Software Quality Assurance techniques for small and medium size
organizations. He was test coordinator in a Norwegian Telecom Y2K effort.
Hans presents public and in-house courses in Software
Testing in throughout Scandinavia and the rest of the world, including Germany, Switzerland, UK, USA, Canada, and India. Hans guest lectures on Quality Assurance at
several universities in Norway and frequently gives presentations and keynotes
at international software test conferences.
Currently he is Chairman of ISTQB Norway (International
Software Testing Qualifications Board). He is also ISEB Foundation Level
Certified Software Tester and ISTQB foundation and advanced level Certified
Software Tester.

Introduction
Embedded systems have become an increasingly
important part of our daily lives. They range from small appliances, like our
mobile phones, to safety-critical systems, such as railway signaling and
medical devices. The tutorial will focus on the special problems encountered
here and ways to deal with them.
Background:
BeyondTest is a nonprofit community, which is especially
focusing software quality everywhere. Now, embedded software plays more and
more important roles in industry, and also will be the hotspot in the future.
Mr. Schaefer just gave the similar tutorial successfully in the 3rd World
Congress for Software Quality, 26-29, Sep, Munich, Germany. So, it’s a good chance to invite him to China to give this wonderful tutorial.
